The Idea
The Holly Hill Light Study was an internal exploratory project. Building on a previously completed client commission, this study allowed us to dive deeper into the nuances of lighting — testing techniques, visual styles, and environmental impacts in a controlled scenario.
Design Intent
We’re committed to pushing our craft forward. This study wasn’t client-led — it was curiosity-led.

What We Explored
- Base Model Adaptation
We repurposed a previously completed architectural model, stripping it back to core forms and materials to isolate the lighting effects. - Natural vs. Artificial Lighting
Scenarios included early morning light, high sun, golden hour, and nighttime artificial lighting — to test how each affects perception, texture, and spatial hierarchy. - Refining Our Process
We experimented with different light rigging setups, tone mapping, and post-production techniques to evolve our internal pipeline and ensure maximum flexibility for future client needs.
